Nauvoo Senior Portrait Photography {James}

James had just completed his senior year and already started moving into the next chapter of his life…..sending in papers to serve a full-time church service mission so we had a short window of opportunity to capture his portraits before he headed out.

Fortunately, the weather cooperated, which doesn’t always happen during December in Nauvoo. A little warmer than usual. A little less windy than usual. And the perfect cloud cover with just enough light filtering through. The perfect conditions for this photo session in old Nauvoo.

Ahh…..Senior Portraits. What a fabulous way to mark a milestone in life. Here are a few we caught of James just before he embarked on his next journey.

To James:

As you finished one chapter (high school) in your life’s journey and moved very quickly into the next (full-time mission), we were excited to be there to mark the transition. Thanks for letting us share a few moments with you before heading off on your new adventure.

Nauvoo Weddings {Rachael and Shane}

Do you know how to have a winter wonderland wedding? Combine a beautiful bride, a groom’s never-ending smile, and a horse-drawn carriage with snow falling lightly around the Nauvoo Temple.

Even though it was a winter day, the chilly weather seemed to have little effect on Rachael and Shane. A bouquet of red roses surrounded by holly leaves and the special beauty of the Historic Nauvoo Temple helped keep hearts aglow with warmth even if toes were a bit cold.

Here are a few of the moments captured…..

One of my favorite shots. Shane’s little nephew kept a pretty tight hold on his leg…..and he wasn’t letting go!

Summer Family Reunion in Nauvoo

Nauvoo is family friendly. We had so many family reunions this past “season” that it just got to be fun and hijinks almost every day. Case in point was this lovely family that came to Nauvoo for their family reunion. We were so pleased they chose Tom Simpson Photography to record their memorable stay here.

Whenever you have an almost 50/50 mix of kids and adults in a session almost anything is possible. With Jeanette ‘s kind and fun nature these children just naturally followed her instructions as I shot away. So here’s the result…

I sure hope they come back again as the children get older. Thank you for a wonderful day.

Nauvoo Wedding Photography {Janarae and Andy}

A lovely bride and groom, a picture perfect place, and a sweet summer day…..add the three together and you have the ideal setting for wedding photography on the Nauvoo Temple grounds.

Janarae and Andy, sealed for time and all eternity, were the embodiment of happiness, love, and pure joy as they emerged through the Temple doors. Their sweet and loving looks at one another made for tender moments as we photographed the couple around the Temple.

Nauvoo Family Reunion Portraits

July in Nauvoo is awesome. Why? It’s warm. Flowers blooming everywhere. Nauvoo Pageant. We love all the extra shows and festivities but with it comes an age old summertime tradition…..family reunions.

Families love their get-togethers in Nauvoo. There is so much to see and do but they mostly love their time together. We love photographing these groups, especially groups like Carol and Stamford’s family. The adults were delightful and pleasant but the kids were adorable and fun.

Ever notice how the group shot of grandparents and grandkids seems to have the cutest expressions? Here are some of the fabulous family reunion images…..and some of the cutest kids too.

What an awesome family you have! We so enjoyed our session with each one of you. It is wonderful to see such smiling faces, even when the kids have to get up early and dress in Sunday best on a weekday. Thank you for sharing your family with us. May God bless each of you.
