Spring weather in Nauvoo is unpredictable and when planning outdoor wedding photos, you just never know what you will get. But you do know what you will get each time a bride and groom walk through those magnificent double doors of the Nauvoo Temple…..gigantic smiles and eyes sparkling with excitement!
Flannery and Scott were just that, as they appeared all smiles, with fingers entwined. Together as good friends during their youth, their re-connection a few years later turned to love and then marriage. As we made our way around the grounds, capturing images of their special day, it was fun to witness their sweet connection to each other.
Here are a few of the special moments from their wedding day. (Oh yeah, we had perfect weather, even with clouds threatening rain. Cool and comfortable. Light breeze. Perfect for photography.)
What a beautiful beginning for such a happy couple! Thank you for sharing part of your special day with us. May your love for one another continue to grow and blossom each day as you journey through life together.
All the Best!!

After a longer than normal winter and slower to emerge spring, we were able to get outside when the color of spring flowers and all the brilliant green finally exploded here in Nauvoo. Following Ashley’s wonderful winter session, we finally had the perfect weather and color for Ashley Part Deux as we call it!.
She had ideas in mind and had scouted locations to make her visions a reality. All we had to do was show up with our gear and fire away!
Oh, the anticipation… counting the days to graduation and beginning a new phase of life away at college is such a wonderful time in young persons life. Ashley worked hard and achieved the honor of Salutatorian at her high school. She is the product of an amazingly supportive family, circle of friends and loved ones who have encouraged her along her path to excellence.
To Ashley:
It was an honor to capture this time in your life. We salute you and know you will continue to grow, progress, and stretch toward your aspirations. May all your dreams come true and goals be realized. The future is bright. And one more thing…..go Cougars!
All the best,
Tom and Jeanette
Combine sunshine, a splash of red, and a beautiful couple and what do you have? Jordan and Nic’s Nauvoo Temple wedding. After a long, cold winter, the weather broke just in time to provide the perfect setting for capturing memories of their special day.
Surrounded by family, friends, and a totally delightful bridal party (who took our pose suggestions to creative heights), we had a fabulous time photographing this group. The happiness and joy radiating from the bride and groom was felt throughout the entire group making this photo shoot easy. Here are a few of the final images.
To Jordan and Nic,
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day and for sharing your love, laughter, and zest for life. May your future be bright and full of dreams come true. You have a great beginning as your write your life story together.
All the Best!!

There is a photography session we label “corporate headshots.” That is when we take photos destined for website use, company staff directories, and marketing materials. They are usually pretty standard—smiling heads, suits and ties, business attire and the like. Occasionally there’s a little elegance thrown in, but otherwise, we work hard to make the boring not so boring!
With fabulous fall color along the Mississippi River for a backdrop and the awe-inspiring beauty Susan displayed in her full Native American garb, this “corporate” session moved us into the realm of magical. Susan’s quick smile, easy-going manner, and charm made this session inspiring.
From the beaded handwork to fringed trim to hand-cut stone, the costume represents a culture and heritage instead of a corporation and business. Be sure to take a close look. This sweet Grandmother has elegance written all over her.
We Asked Susan about her dress. Here is her reply:
“My dress is Deerskin and my husband Brad had it made for our wedding. Since that day beads and shells have been added and have special meaning. My Eagle Wing Fan was made by a Navajo man in New Mexico and my purple and white choker was made by an Iroquois woman in Oshweken Ontario where my mother is from. The long Turtle necklace is bone and came to me in Arizona. Collectively this is my Regalia, filled with Love and my Story!”
To Susan:
Even though it took us almost as long to post this on our blog as it did for you to deliver the local Nauvoo Honey to us (and it is just plain amazing by the way!), I believe we captured something special here. Thanks for all you do around the world and within our community. You bring enlightenment and awareness to so many through the beauty of who you are and the specialness of what you represent.
All the best,
