One of the reasons Nauvoo residents love living here is the arrival of summer means the Nauvoo Pageant is just around the corner. We had the great experience of getting to know many of the pageant core cast members over the years. Among our most cherished friends are Brannon and Emily Killgo, who played Brigham and Mary Ann Young in the Pageant. They also performed in “Our Story Goes On” where we learned that Brannon has a fantastic singing voice! We were totally blown away when he heard him sing. Wow!
Photographing the Killgos in and around Brigham Young’s house was a very sweet experience. Brannon, as you can see, looks so much like the Lion of the Lord. It was fun to see the looks on the faces of some of the tourists when “Brigham Young” came walking out of Brigham Young’s house!
Many hours and 15 Photoshop layers went into the “vintage” black and white image taken in front of the Nauvoo Temple. Notice the original Moroni atop the temple…tricky, eh? I love this photo. Also included are some of the images from past pageant seasons.
To Brannon and Emily: You guys are the best! We have grown to love and admire you both as you served here in Nauvoo. We will never forget how tender and sweet you are together. Thank you for sharing your lives and talents with us here in Nauvoo. We pray you will be back again next year.
One last note…your “first dance” was one of the highlights of all our experiences here in Nauvoo. Thank you for sharing that with us. God be with you ‘til we meet again.
Hugs!
